Apple presents its M2 processor and a MacBook Air

Apple’s big mass is being scrutinized by developers. The annual developer conference opened on Monday. Various product executives paraded to unveil, among other things, a new home-made electronic chip, a customizable iPhone watch screen, the ability to correct or delete messages, sophisticated artificial intelligence tools, a setting full update of its car operating system (CarPlay) and a new MacBook Air.

Apple has also announced the entry of “buy now-pay later” payment solutions. Apple Pay Later, the new feature, “makes it easy to view, track and refund,” the California group said in a statement.

Once out of the ordinary, “Apple responds to users’ shopping lists,” said Carolina Milanesi, an analyst at Creative Strategies. “They listen to what consumers are saying and they make changes. They have eliminated a lot of friction from their operating system, ”she says. Some features have catch-up features, including on Apple Maps, the mapping app that has long lagged behind the hugely popular Google Maps.

But for the expert, the star of the show is the M2 chip. In late 2020, the group launched a new line of laptops equipped with its own chip, the M1, instead of Intel, marking the beginning of a two-year transition.

Subjects absent from the conference

Rumors have been swirling for months about an Apple VR headset that would be in preparation for this year. In late January, boss Tim Cook said he saw “a lot of potential in this space” and was “investing in it accordingly.”
