Under the burning sun of 2 pm, on the oval of the “Arena of the future” that Brebemi has set up just outside the motorway site (at the Chiari exit of the A35), a Fiat Nuova 500 (i.e. electric) runs a little slower than the bus which, being longer, has been equipped with more plates on the floor for energy storage. Here, in one of the most polluting Padan corridors due to high industrialization and relative population, an antidote is being tested: the Dynamic wireless power transfer technology, already tested to tell the truth in several parts of the world, therefore with some and different nuances technique. After the electric car, probably the best way to go for the troubled and still immature “sustainable mobility”.

Energy efficiency. The pilot project for the Italian DWPT, whose success would relieve half the country from the installation on the road of thousands of – “ugly” – charging columns for electric vehicles, especially in built-up areas, is coordinated by Brebemi and Aleatica (global operator of transport infrastructures specialized in innovative mobility solutions). To date, it is defined as the one at the most advanced stage, so much so that it sees the cooperation of several realities that represent undisputed points of reference in each sector of competence. The goal is engaging: the diffusion of induction charging technology would allow electric vehicles to refuel comfortably and wirelessly both during parking and, above all, on the move simply by occupying the lanes equipped with coils, drowned under a few centimeters of water. asphalt. A system that, when our shares of energy from renewable sources can be called such, could help the entire road sector to travel in the most sustainable way possible. Meanwhile, in addition to the cancellation of the penalizing times needed today to “fill up” the electric car, among the advantages of induction charging technology, research is highlighting a better energy efficiency of vehicles: the car stores more than it consumes , being more frequent “travel recharges” optimize yield and in the brighter future manufacturers could even significantly reduce the weight and volume of their battery packs.

Tecnoteam. At the presentation of the many steps forward made in recent years by the increasingly large team (for the design, asphalts, control units, cables, vehicles, 5G connectivity, automation and whatever else is needed, Abb, Electreon, Iveco, Mapei, Pizzarotti, Politecnico di Milano, Prysmian, Stellantis, Tim, FIiamm, the Roma Tre and Parma universities, as well as the Fire Brigade, the Polstrada and the Ministry of the Interior), meeting held in the morning at Clear in the splendid setting of Villa Mazzotti and which preceded the demonstration “on the track”, even the best wishes of the Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, had arrived, repeated by the video intervention of the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, while the minister for regional affairs and autonomies, Mariastella Gelmini personally intervened with a pinch of territorial pride (she was born in the province of Brescia): “We are facing an inevitable change. We must not only face it, but ride it to seize the new opportunities it offers, thus involving the world of research and businesses ”.
