Bentley Flying Spur S debuts at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed

The new Bentley Flying Spur S enhances the dynamic characteristics of the Crewe sedan, distinguished by a design that with its details underlines the sporty character, also amplified by a new and powerful sound of the exhaust system. It is also the first time that Bentley’s historic “S” logo has been used for a hybrid product.

As with the recent launch of the Continental GT S and GT S Convertible, the new Flying Spur S models focus on driving pleasure, but with the choice of 4.0-liter V8 or V6 Hybrid powertrains.

The Flying Spur S is available with a choice of two powertrains, each offering a sporty and rewarding driving experience thanks to different technical approaches but which both enhance the dynamic characteristics of the Bentley sedan.

There version V8 of the Flying Spur S is powered by the evolved 4-liter V8 engine Bentley, which develops 550 hp and 770 Nm of torque. The transition from 0-100 kilometers per hour is covered in just 4.1 seconds and the maximum speed where possible to express it, according to the highway code is 318 kilometers per hour.

The car is equipped as standard with the Bentley Dynamic Ride systemcapable of applying up to 1300 Nm of anti-roll torque in 0.3 seconds to keep the car body flat and stable even on demanding mixed routes, while offering a precise and comfortable ride at more moderate speeds thanks to the decoupling of the wheels on each axle, and excellent comfort for passengers.

The standard equipment also includes integral electronic steering. When maneuvering at low speed, the system turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front ones by up to 4.2 ° to reduce the turning radius and increase agility. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels for greater stability when changing lanes and overtaking.

The Flying Spur S is also available with a hybrid engine. The 2.9-liter V6 petrol engine is coupled to an advanced electric motor, for a total output of 536 hp and 750 Nm of torque, for a transition from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour that is only a tenth of a second higher than that of the V8. The Hybrid version is able to travel up to 41 km in purely electric mode and with only 75 g of CO2 per kilometer (WLTP), the Flying Spur Hybrid S is also the most efficient Bentley ever.

In addition, a new deep sound distinguishes the Flying Spur S with V8 powertrain which is equipped with a new sports exhaustwhile the Flying Spur Hybrid S (in Sport mode) is equipped with an ingenious system that enhances the sound in the engine compartment, adapting to the sportier character of the car for the driver, while keeping the sound levels in the rear compartment lower.

The S design seats are carved, with optional quilting, and the ‘S’ emblem embroidered on the headrest of each seat; Bentley embroidered wings are a no-cost alternative. The driver’s instrumentation is inspired by motorsport chronometers, with the same graphics as the Continental GT Speed.
