Step forward in the automaker’s electrification strategy with the debut of orders in Italy for Nissan Qashqai e-POWER, the revolutionary and modern engine invented and patented by Nissan, unique in the automotive landscape. e-POWER has been adapted to the needs of Europeans, attentive to driving pleasure, efficiency and the ability to travel without limits in all contexts. It will be possible to choose between the versions mild hybrid from 140 or 158 hp and e-POWER.
Nissan Qashqai e-POWER: engine
e-POWER consists of a 190 HP electric motor and 330 Nm of torque that moves the wheels of the car and from a heat engine which produces electricity. Under no circumstances is the thermal power transmitted directly to the wheels. The energy produced by the heat engine can be transmitted to the battery, to the electric motor or to both. The energy flows are regulated on the basis of a number of parameters, including the state of charge of the battery, the driving conditions and the demand for motive power.
At low speed, the energy produced goes partly to the electric motor and partly to the battery. When the latter is fully charged, the heat engine switches off and the machine runs in 100% electric mode. In case of strong acceleration or traveling at high speed, the energy to the electric motor comes from both the heat engine and the battery.
During the regeneration phase, the electric motor transforms the kinetic energy of the car into electrical energy which recharges the battery.
The system tends to maximize the time the heat engine is off, so much so that in urban contexts its number of ignitions is about 65% less than in a traditional hybrid system.
e-POWER offers EV driving pleasure with brilliant, linear acceleration, the same sensation as driving a high-performance sedan, but with greater fluidity and progression in power delivery. No recharging on plug and to fill up with energy just fill the tank with petrol. e-POWER is the best electrified solution available, an alternative to diesel and a real transition element towards 100% electric mobility. Furthermore, low noise emissions and reduced vibrations ensure maximum silence and comfort on board.
The heat engine, with variable compression ratio (Nissan patented system), is not connected to the wheels of the car, so it can operate in an optimal range of rpm, minimizing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The heart of the system is precisely the sophisticated 1.5-liter, 158 HP three-cylinder turbo petrol engine of Infiniti derivation. According to the demand for motive power, an elaborate management system automatically adjusts the compression ratio in a range between 14: 1 (to favor low consumption) and 8: 1 (to favor performance). We also remind you that in urban contexts, characterized by frequent regenerations, the heat engine is more often turned off.
Nissan Qashqai e-POWER is equipped with e-Pedal Step technology to accelerate and brake using only the accelerator pedal. During release, the system brakes the car without coming to a complete stop, to facilitate parking and low speed maneuvers.
Nissan Qashqai e-POWER is available in 5 trim levels, Acenta, Business, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna +with prices starting from 36,270 euros.
