There Ferrari aims to seize new opportunities for growth and development in the coming years and, above all, to become “carbon neutral”, ie with zero impact on the environment due to carbon dioxide emissions. “With commitment and passion, the men and women of Ferrari are determined to impeccably implement the strategic plan and take advantage of all the opportunities that lie ahead, making our founder’s vocation their own: to keep alive the desire for progress pursued in the past” , affirmed the managing director Benedetto Vigna, during the presentation of the new industrial plan to 2026. “We will continue – he added – to leverage our competitive advantages: uniqueness and technological leadership, while taking actions to achieve emissions neutrality of carbon by 2030 “.

Respect for tradition. Neutrality, which will be achieved through various initiatives (cutting emissions from production activities, pervasive use of renewable sources, electrification of the range, use of materials with low environmental impact, purchase of green certificates or creation of Bosco Ferrari), is one of the points focal points of the new plan. The one for the four years 2018-2022 closed with most of the promises kept despite the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic: customer base increased by 25% (average age was reduced by eight years), almost 2.5 billion cash generated and above all the launch of 15 models . Ferrari today counts on the “widest range ever” and on an order book at an all-time high, while remaining faithful to the founder’s philosophy of “always delivering one car less than market demand”. For the future there will be no upheavals.

The product plan. To keep the range always at the highest levels, while at the same time preserving its uniqueness, a further 15 models are planned to be launched between 2023 and 2026, each of which is designed with a unique positioning and with the aim of serving a clientele. specifies, according to the principle “different Ferraris for different Ferrari fans and different Ferraris for different moments.” In addition to the series models, the range will also include Special Series, which will represent about 10% of the total volumes, as well as examples of the Icona family and a new Supercars (for now not better defined but arriving by 2026), which will be limited to less than 5% of sales. The focus on exclusivity will also concern Thoroughbredwhich will be presented in September but, according to sales manager Enrico Galliera, has already attracted “high demand”: its contribution to total deliveries will have to remain, on average, below 20% over its entire life cycle.

The endothermic does not die. The exclusivity and uniqueness of the Ferrari will also have to be maintained during the electrification process of the range. Process that will not result in a farewell to the engines that have made the history of Maranello. Even in this case, the company intends to remain faithful to the philosophy of its founder, according to which “the engine is the soul of a car.” Therefore, Ferrari will continue to design, develop and handcraft its own engines, including those electric, in Maranello, together with other fundamental components, to differentiate the technology and performance of the cars. In 2021, traditional engines represented 80% of the product mix and hybrids 20%, while in 2026 endothermic engines will have to decrease to 40% and hybrids and electric cars to rise to 55% and 5% respectively. The target for 2030 is an offer composed of only 20% of ICE models, 40% of hybrids and for 40% from electric. Ferrari therefore specified that “it will continue to work on the innovation of the internal combustion engine and, with the support of its partners, will develop solutions in the field of energy efficiency and alternative fuels to increase a essential part of the tradition of the company “. The hydrogen option is not neglected either, but, for Vigna, it is a possibility to be evaluated “in the next decade”.

Electric and hybrid. As for electrification, which began in 2009 in Formula 1, in Maranello they believe it is the “right technology to increase pure performance” and take advantage of “the technology transfer from the world of racing”. Ferrari, with four hybrid cars in the range (SF90 Stradale and Spyder, 296 GTB and GTS), “is still firmly convinced that the hybrid engine can further increase performance.” in common with the internal combustion engine – including the transfer of technology from the world of racing, precision mechanics, fluid dynamics and software for performance “, to provide” unique elements, driving emotions and thrills of a real Ferrari “, Starting with the first battery-powered model scheduled for 2025.” It will be a real Ferrari “, assured Vigna, underlining that” electric is a technology that can enhance performance and we have the skills and human resources and financial “.” Everything we do – added President John Elkann – will always be centered on being Ferrari, in our distinctive way. The opportunities represented by electrification and electronics will allow us to create even more unique cars. “Another key element highlighted by Vigna: all the electrical components (motors, inverters and battery modules) will be fully built in Maranello in a new plant. Ferrari, which will continue to produce all strategic parts in-house and continue collaborations with selected partners, will also build a new paint shop to increase customization options.

Financial goals. The Emilian company therefore confirmed some strategic guidelines undertaken in recent years (autonomous driving limited to Sae L2 / L2 + levels, connectivity serving only the improvement of the experience and relationship with the customer, growing development of exclusive and personalized experiences, greater presence in the field of luxury and lifestyle) and indicated its new financial objectives for 2026: turnover is expected at 6.7 billion euros, operating profit at 1.8 / 2 billion, margin at 27/30% thanks above all due to an increase in the price mix and Ebitda to 2.5 / 2.7 billion (38/40% as a percentage of turnover). Cash flows of € 4.6 / 4.9 billion are expected over the period of the plan, against investments of approximately € 4.4 billion.
