Pagani Huayra Longtail it is made in only five copies made in close collaboration with the customer. Behind the elegant and sinuous shapes lies the state of the art of Pagani technology. Approved for driving all over the world, the price of the new Hypercar starts at 7 million euros.
In line with the Pagani philosophy, the Huayra Codalunga has been conceived down to the smallest detail according to the creative principle of the multifaceted Leonardo Da Vinci, an inexhaustible source of inspiration, according to which Art and Science can walk hand in hand. It took two years of work in close contact with the customer to arrive at the definition of the stylistic concept, a model in 1: 4 scale and one in 1: 1 scale. The latter was used for the final discussions with customers and for the final refinements before starting with the production of the components.
We decided to use the simple and straightforward style of the Huayra Coupé as a starting point. We have made it longer and sanded, almost caressed and eroded by the wind, to make it even more elegant. We were inspired by the longtights of the 60s of Le Mans, cars with very clean lines. The Huayra Codalunga is composed of a few essential elements, we have removed rather than added. Simplifying is anything but easy, this car is a complicated search for simple ideas, said Horacio Pagani.
Pagani Huayra Longtail: engine
Body builders of the 1960s drew inspiration from aircraft design and, in the relentless pursuit of speed and aerodynamics, created some of the most iconic shapes in the automotive industry. The large, hand-crafted aluminum alloy body panels were the result of the era. Today, Pagani uses its know-how in advanced composite material systems to create a bodywork that follows the inspiration of the 1960s.
The bonnet, with a footprint of over 3.7 m2 and 360 mm longer than the Huayra Coupé, hides a mechanical marvel: the V12 Pagani which on this series is able to develop 840 HP with 1,100 Nm of torque. The absence of rear grilles allows you to admire without obstacles the exhaust system of the Codalunga, made of titanium with a weight of only 4.4 kg.
The special ceramic coating completes the homage to Le Mans racing cars, and the symphony that emanates from the four characteristic tailpipes is a tribute to motoring passion. The work of “removing rather than adding” led to the record result of just 1280 kg and extremely high aerodynamic efficiency, thanks to the elongated shapes. The four variable profile flaps are the latest generation of active aerodynamics, a feature first introduced in 2011 and which has been refined model after model.
On this special model, the focus is on neutral color scales and semi-opaque paints, including opaque ones, to recall the shades of the past and give word to the simplicity of the car. This concept also plays a vital role in the interior, where the seats
they adopt a leather / nubuck weave and the parts machined from solid recall the manual skills of the past, where the craftsman polished each component by hand. Processing that is still carried out and handed down today by the experts of the Motor Valley, the cradle of world sports cars.
