Toyota Corolla Cross: la famiglia si allarga

EXTENDED FAMILY – The Toyota Corolla Crosspresent at MIMO 2022 preview for the Italian public awaiting its arrival in the dealerships scheduled for October, is a medium-sized SUV which, with 446 cm in length, 182 cm in width and 162 cm in height, and a wheelbase of 264 cm, fits between the CH-R and the larger RAV4. It also completes the Corolla “family” alongside the Touring Sports sedan and station wagon. The lines are rather clean, devoid of the personalities seen on the CH-R, peculiarities that make this Corolla Cross a global model that could also be offered with other brands.

ONLY HYBRID, NATURALLY – One of the main innovations of the Toyota Corolla Cross is constituted by the presence of the fifth generation hybrid system of the Japanese house which guarantees more torque, more power from the electric motor and greater efficiency, also thanks to the new lithium-ion batteries, which weigh 40% less than the previous generation ones . The new full hybrid powertrain, capable of delivering a total power of 197 hp, is based on the 2.0 4-cylinder engine and is available both with front-wheel drive only (an electric motor combined with the thermal one) and four-wheel AWD-i. driving, with two electric motors, one for each axle (the additional one on the rear axle has a power of 41 HP and comes into operation automatically to give greater traction in conditions of poor grip). The sprint from 0 to 100 km / h is 8.1 seconds.

TWO EQUIPMENTS – The Toyota Corolla Cross, which is currently bookable (prices have not been disclosed), is available in two trim levels: Trend and Lounge. Trend offers standard 18 “alloy wheels, full LED headlights, automatic climate control, latest generation Toyota Safety Sense 3, Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system with 10.5” screen, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, digital cockpit from 12.3 ”, electrically operated tailgate and tinted rear windows.

THERE IS YOU TOO – Also present at the Milanese exhibition Lexus NX (pictured above), which marks a nice step forward compared to the previous generation, also because it is totally new (with the previous one it shares only 5% of the components). The price list starts at 60,000 euros. Engineered on the GA-K platform, which promises excellent dynamic qualities, it inaugurates a new course in Lexus design, which confirms the orientation towards cutting-edge technology, but with more elegance and without too many frills. The Lexus NX is offered in Italy only with hybrid engines. The version NX 450h + it is powered by the manufacturer’s first plug-in hybrid, based on a 4-cylinder 2.5 combustion engine combined with electric motors. The performances are very interesting: a total of 306 HP, up to 63 km of autonomy in EV mode, a 0-100 km / h sprint in just over 6 seconds. All-wheel drive is obtained with an electric motor on the rear axle, the battery is 17 kWh. The other hybrid version, the 350h, is still based on the 4-cylinder 2.5 heat engine, but with non-rechargeable batteries. This is the fourth generation Lexus hybrid which, according to the manufacturer, increases power by 22% and reduces emissions by 10%. The maximum power is 242 hp and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h of 7.7 seconds. The NX 350h will be available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
